Creating Champions
Creating Champions, Sure Gig Inc.’s yearly Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, began in 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic first reached Guyana. In an effort to assist the educational dynamic of students and teachers, Sure Gig Inc.’s management had the idea to provide help in the form of laptops for primary and secondary school children and teachers.
Our team performed several outreaches in various villages and cities to create awareness of the initiative and incite parents to allow their children to participate. Children were asked to answer a few questions through video, and teachers were selected through name submissions from students and parents. With the help of our sponsors in 2020 and 2021, we had the opportunity to provide laptops, tablets, and stationery tokens.
In 2022, Sure Gig Inc.’s vision grew, and the goal was much higher. We planned to give school bags filled with stationary supplies to nursery, primary, and secondary school children across Guyana. School bags were distributed in Berbice, Essequibo, Mahaicony, Linden, and Georgetown. Some were also distributed in a village with refugee children, a children center, and a special needs school.
During a period of four (4) years, since the start of this initiative, we have accomplished so much with the help of our Sure Gig Inc. team members and our incredible sponsors. Because of our joined work, our vision keeps on growing:
In 2020, thirty (30) laptops and 10 (10) stationary tokens were awarded. Under the Theme: (Laptop Impact Initiative)
In 2021, sixty-three (63) laptops, twenty-one (21) tablets, and seventeen (17) stationery tokes were awarded. Theme: (Unity Through the Storm)
In 2022, over two-thousand (2,000) bags with stationary supplies were distributed to students all across Guyana. Theme: (Leaders Making a Difference)
In 2023, over 2000 school bags and stationary supplies were distributed to students throughout Guyana. Theme: (Our Support will Help Their Future)
As a Guyanese owned company, our objective is to positively contribute towards the growth and development of our people. A solid educational foundation is essential for economic growth on a personal and national level. We wish to continue playing a major role in providing the tools needed to enable students to continue on their educational path.
